What is Videoexpress?
Videoexpress is a conversion service that creates high-quality digital files from home video tapes, movie camera reels, vinyl records, and cassette tapes.
Why should I convert my tapes, records, and films to DVD?
Video tapes start to degrade immediately and lose quality over time. Your memories will be difficult to enjoy if you constantly have to fast-forward or rewind the tape to find the part you want to watch. And let’s not even mention the laborious task of projecting our old Super 8 films. By converting them to digital, your footage becomes very easy to view on a DVD player, computer, or smart TV. Moreover, if properly stored, it can last a lifetime.
How can I know if the DVDs recorded by Videoexpress are compatible with my player?
If you have a DVD player purchased after 2001 that can read DVD-R discs, it is very likely compatible with our DVDs. Videoexpress only uses high-quality, brand-name discs for all projects.
How can I know how many minutes my Super 8 reels contain?
Most reels include three scales: two for length (meters and feet) and one for time (minutes). This allows you to see approximately the meters of film wound and the estimated duration in minutes, which helps calculate an approximate cost for digitization.
Each minute projected at 18 fps measures 4.75 meters.
Each minute projected at 18 fps measures 3.66 meters.
What is the recommended medium for preserving my videos?
Although we still provide DVDs, this format is becoming increasingly obsolete. Videoexpress recommends using USB flash drives or external hard drives due to their capacity, size, and versatility. Customers may choose to send their own hard drive, and we will transfer the files to it during the digitization process.
If the customer does not have one, Videoexpress will include a storage device in the quote. On the pricing section of our website, you can see the prices for various high-quality brand-name devices we offer, as well as their storage capacities.
Finally, we also provide the option to download the digital files directly from our server.
How long does it take Video Express to convert my material?
Once the material is received at our facilities, the maximum delivery time is one week. For large-volume orders, the delivery time will be agreed upon with the customer.
Is the original material returned after conversion?
Yes, all original material is returned once the order has been completed.
How many minutes of video can I include on each DVD?
A DVD can hold up to 6 hours of video, but to preserve the original video quality, you should never exceed 120 minutes, with 60 minutes per DVD being ideal. At Video Express, we choose to include 120 minutes per DVD, maintaining a good balance between quality and cost.
Can Video Express repair broken video tapes and films?
Yes, Video Express can repair your tapes and films by replacing the casing and fixing the tape or film. This process incurs an additional cost.
